Here are our Frequently Asked Questions and Answers. A few of these questions we asked ourselves, the kind of information we'd like to know when visiting our favourite sites, and answered them for you:
How large are the prints and how much do they cost?
Our prints come in a selection of A5 (148 x 210mm / 5.8 x 8.3"), A4 (210 x 297mm / 8.3 x 11.7") and A3 (297 x 420mm / 11.7 x 16.5") sizes. We've kept the pricing very simple, so all of our A5 prints are $15, A4 prints are $30, and A3 prints are just $60. We've also added a range of greeting cards (A6 size - 105 x 148mm) which are just $5 each!;
I have an idea. Can you draw / paint something for me?
Yes, we are always happy to work with our customers in creating something unique. Whether it's just an idea that you have, a photo that you would like painted, or a rough sketch that you've made that we can work from, we're here to help. Email us through the details and we'll work through the options.
Our commission pieces are very reasonably priced, and depend on size, art medium, detail etc. Check out some of the things we've done for our customers here;
If I order a print, how long before it's posted, and how will it arrive?
We aim to ship all orders within 2 business days (quite often this will be much sooner). A5 & A4 items are shipped in a padded bag, with A3 pieces sent in a mailing tube. If you order a selection of A5, A4 and A3 sizes, we will post together in the one mailing tube. All items are shipped via registered Australia Post. We'll email you with the tracking details once the item has shipped;
- I'm interested in buying wholesale and / or stocking your prints!
We would love to discuss your requirements in more detail. Please contact us via email or give us a call on 0402 335 470;
- Do you provide framing for your prints?
At this stage we do not ship framed prints. We do, however, provide a selection of frames that can be purchased (with your choice of print) at our market stalls or in person. Please see the 'markets' section above for our dates and locations, or contact us for local pick up;
Are all the artworks hand drawn or do you use computers?
All of the artworks are completely hand drawn. I usually draw a rough draft of a piece first in pencil and get the layout right, and then go onto the original in pencil on the proper paper. Once I'm happy with the artwork I draw it in using fine liner ink pens (at the moment I'm using Copic Multiliners) in a variety of sizes and then I put the colour in. I use water colour pencils and gouache depending on what I'm trying to achieve with the painting;
Are all the ideas yours?
For the most part the ideas are mine, and they pop into my head at a variety of different times. Usually when I'm quietly working on another piece, I find the images for something new start forming. I do also get really good ideas from Michael too - he gave me the idea for the hot air balloon, and the turtle to name a few and he's really good to bounce ideas off and brainstorm with;
- What's with the squid?
What can I say, I just love cephalopods... Octopus and squid are just incredible creatures, and I find them endlessly fascinating and mesmerising. When it came to choosing a logo and symbol, it was the first and only choice. Also, just a bit of trivia, our mascot on the logo intentionally has 7 legs, and that's where he gets his name - "7/8 Squid".
