Strength, Stability, Steadfastness, Hope – The Anchor has long had many different interpretations over time. A ship will put down an anchor after a long journey so that it is safely moored and held in position against the waves, tides and winds until the time comes to lift anchor and sail on to a new location. Just like a vessel at sea, the Anchor is symbolic of someone who is steadfast and strong against all the chaos and uncertainty that life can throw our way at times. After years of working in shipping, I’m always drawn to nautical symbols. I love the strong symbolism of the Anchor and chose to draw the starfish, coral and shells in with it.
