A Flamboyance of Flamingos

A Flamboyance of Flamingos

from 15.00

Flamingos are such amazing birds to draw and to observe. I love their mannerisms, colourings and unusual shape. They’re always so enjoyable to draw. The idea for this image was completely accidental – I had been cleaning up after our 2 year old daughter was painting and there was lots of red and white paint leftover, so I painted a very quick playful picture using the leftover paint, and glitter too! I posted it on Instagram and people really responded to it, so it seemed like it was destined to be added to the Squid Ink art collection.

I kept the idea and basic layout of the original idea and re-did the flamingos in brighter colours and with more movement, and tried to keep the whimsical nature of these cartoonish birds. With, of course, a little nod to Alice in Wonderland too! Also, we added a touch of trivia, as the collective noun for flamingos is in fact, a “flamboyance”!
